Part of a limited edition run of fine art prints, this is 'ABERDEEN' which features Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) imagery of a sand sample collected at Aberdeen beachfront. This amazing piece of technology can view sand grains at one thousandth of a millimetre. April combined the monochrome SEM images with a colour palette from the day she collected the sand to create this beautiful moody blue and sandy beige textile. The coordinates featured are where the sand was collected.
All of my fine art prints are printed in the UK on Perlino Cotton paper. Perlino is an FSC® certified board made of 20% recycled material, 15% cotton fibres, and is fully recyclable. A luxurious, textured surface that is soft to the touch. It resembles similar qualities to watercolour/artist sketchbook paper.
All prints are sent out in a sealed, compostable cello bag backed with recycled greyboard to protect in transit.

This textile is part of the Tall Ships Collection, a project inspired by sand samples from the stops along the Tall Ship Race Route. April was one of 6 makers selected by Aberdeen Art Gallery to develop a body of work celebrating the Tall Ships Race returning to Aberdeen. Each Tall Ships Collection piece comes with its own limited edition label explaining the collection, and is currently only available through Aberdeen Art Gallery or in limited numbers from the Agate & Ayre webstore.
